German Light Beer

How a German Light Beer Beats the Flavor Pants off Mass Market

Mass market “lite” beer is bland and lacking flavor because it’s brewed and packaged quickly. But if you’re watching your waistline, you can still enjoy good craft beer. Our German light beer Sauerstrom Ale at about 120 calories captures the light European earthy essence of a spring afternoon. A Berliner Weisse-style ale, it beats the heck out of mass market light beers because not only is it brewed with Pilsner malt and wheat, but we do a two stage fermentation. The first to make the beer tart, the second to then ferment out the residual sugars. This longer process dramatically improves flavors. Served with a splash of cherry or raspberry fruit syrup, it’s a spring party in your mouth!
Lightning enthusiasts love this German light beer once spring arrives because it’s a great thirst quencher and a break from higher gravity beers.
Jim likes to prepare halibut or salmon with a 4 oz. splash of Sauerstrom Ale. Simply pre-season a fish filet with salt and pepper in a proper-sized glass or stainless steel non-reactive baking dish, add your splash of Sauerstrom Ale and anything else you like to include. Then cover and allow to marinate while you preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Cook to 140 degrees as read on a quick read thermometer or your own desired level of doneness. Now there’s a delicious, healthy, low-calorie main course even with the beer. Prost! Contact Us >>
